Steelers' T.J. Watt Praises Kenny Pickett

T.J. Watt and the Pittsburgh Steelers believe in Kenny Pickett because of his work behind the scenes.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The first two and a half quarters were not pretty for the Pittsburgh Steelers offense and quarterback Kenny Pickett. At the start of the fourth quarter, they had gained just 110 total yards and scored 10 points - thanks mostly to a well-timed interception from T.J. Watt that put them on the doorstep of the endzone.

But trailing 17-10 entering the final period, the Steelers offense came alive thanks to the perfect passing of Kenny Pickett, who completed all seven of his attempts for 138 yards to set up the game-tying and game-winning rushing touchdowns in a 24-17 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

Watt, whose own brilliant play played a key role in sparking the second-half turnaround, was not surprised by Pickett's ability to show up when the lights were the brightest.

"He's continuing to grow," Watt said. "He's always had moxie. He's able to step up in late-game situations and the moment's never too big for him.”

Watt went on to say the entire team sees what kind of work Pickett puts into preparing for moments like that, the ones he shines in so regularly. That success is not random, according to Watt.

"We trust him, believe in him and that's through all the hard work he's put in," Watt said. "Not all you guys can see the work that goes in behind the scenes for us and him.”
