'Can't Lose!' Laremy Tunsil Named Texans Most Valuable Non-QB
When it comes to what is considered the most important position on a football team, the answer is almost universally the same - quarterback.
However, while there is no denying how valuable a good quarterback is to a franchise, they can't do that alone. Even the most elite passer needs a solid supporting cast, especially along the offensive line.
Luckily for the Houston Texans, they have arguably the best left tackle in the NFL in Laremy Tunsil anchoring the blindside. Tunsil, whose importance cannot be understated, was named Houston's most important "non-QB" player heading into the season by CBS Sports.
"Assuming rookie QB C.J. Stroud gets the nod under center, he'll need all the help he can get up front," CBS Sports writes. "Not only because the interior remains a question mark but because Stroud isn't necessarily known for his mobility. Protect the signal-caller!"
There was not much to write home about for the Texans last season, especially on offense. They fielded the 30th-ranked scoring offense, averaging 17 points per game on 283.5 yards of total offense.
Despite that, though, Tunsil was one of the lone bright spots. The veteran tackle started in all 17 games for Houston, playing 100 percent of the offensive snaps that he could have.
With Stroud likely to earn the starting quarterback job as a rookie, keeping him upright is of utmost importance for the Texans. Tunsil will do just that, once again holding things down on the blindside.
