Texans vs... Oilers? Titans To Wear Houston Throwback Jerseys in 2023

With the Titans planning to wear Oilers throwbacks for a home game this season, they could wear them against the Texans.

Before moving to Nashville and becoming the now Tennessee Titans, the Titans resided in Houston for the first 37 years of their existence as the Houston Oilers.

However, when the Oilers moved to Tennessee and eventually became the Titans, it left Houston without a team. That all changed in 2002, though, with the introduction of the Houston Texans to the NFL.

While Houston once again had a team in its city, the Texans do not claim the history of the Oilers - including their iconic powder blue uniforms. Instead, the Oilers history belongs to the Titans.

Fast forward to 2023, and the Titans have revealed that they will wear the Oilers throwback uniforms for a home game this upcoming season according to Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com.

"The plan is to wear them for a home game in 2023," Wyatt said. "The exact game is still TBD, but I've already said I suspect it will be for the game vs the Texans. Wouldn't that make the most sense?"

The 2023 schedule won't be released until closer to the start of the season, but it is evident that the Titans plan to trot out the Oilers' uniforms against the Texans knowing how likely it is to rile up Houston fans, and would you expect anything less?
