Texans WATCH: New WR Robert Woods Says Hello to Houston
First impressions go a long way, and now newly-acquired receiver Robert Woods has made his first for the Houston Texans fanbase.
In a video tweeted by the team, Woods gives a short and sweet introduction ahead of what will be his first season in Houston.
Woods was signed via free agency last week when the Texans' AFC South rival Tennessee Titans released him in their first wave of roster cuts.
The veteran receiver was then given a two-year, $15 million contract with $10 million fully guaranteed.
That contract will keep him with the team through the 2024-25 season — and depending on his performance, potentially beyond that.
The 31-year-old is coming off the least productive season of his career, which was not helped by the Titans' lack of offense last season — especially after the departure of Pro-Bowl receiver A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Despite his low numbers, Woods is set to ramp up his production once again, looking to get back to the level he was at during his stint with the Los Angeles Rams, where he averaged 1,096 receiving yards on 132 targets and close to five touchdowns.
After his signing, it became clear that Woods left a good impression on the Texans, who saw his potential and were excited at the prospect of him bringing veteran experience alongside the youth of Nico Collins and John Metchie III next season.
And now, with Woods "excited" and ready to "get to work", Texans fans can look forward to seeing what Woods can bring to the table.
