It's No Secret; The Titans Must Fix The Receiver Issues

While the Tennessee Titans added Chris Moore to their receiver roster on Wednesday, much more work remains to fix their most glaring need.

NASHVILLE - Perhaps this is beating a dead horse or a bit of overkill, but at this point, it can't be stated enough. The Tennessee Titans must find answers to their issues at receiver in this draft or during training camp when other teams trim their roster.

The Titans added former Texans wideout Chris Moore on Wednesday, who is coming off the best season of his career in 2022, and brings a veteran presence to the group. Still, he is not the answer to the overall question. He's a player who should be considered the fifth man in that rotation.

Likewise, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, who has held on to a spot in this group, and was recently resigned to a new deal. If he is more than the fourth receiver in this group in 2023, then the Titans have missed their mark.

Treylon Burks is currently the top receiver on this team. The second-year pro dealt with injuries and the rookie learning curve last season, but now it's time for him to live up to his first-round draft position. Even if he does, he's still going to need help.

Kyle Phillips had a promising start to 2022, as he looked good in training camp, but like Burks, he was sidelined by a hamstring injury after week six.

Former draft pick Racey McMath, along with Cody Hollister, Mason Kinsey, and Reggie Roberson Jr., rounds out the current roster of receivers for the Titans.

While it's possible that McMath or Roberson Jr. could take a step forward and become s solid contributors, it's more likely that both, along with Hollister and Kinsey, should be destined for the practice squad at best.

As mentioned previously, the Titans could find help from cuts made before the season, but that's a gamble, and it's too late in the process to guarantee they get a quality receiver that can step up and support Burks or supplant him as the No. 1 receiver for this team.

The only way the Titans can improve the odds of finding that player is to get them in the draft. And to me, getting two just for good measure would be a wise investment.

We could debate which two receivers from this class the Titans should select, but that would be a waste of time as we have no control over which one or even if the Titans will take one or more. What is evident is the need and the urgency they should have to fix this issue before training camp.
