Derrick Henry has Chance for Redemption against Texans after Disaster in Week 15
The Tennessee Titans lost a close battle with the Houston Texans in Week 15, but it wasn't because they got much from star running back Derrick Henry. After years of dominance, Henry was entirely shut down in that game in a way the NFL hadn't seen since the 1950's.
Henry's 20 touches for only 10 total yards is as bad of a stat line as we have seen in the NFL since New York Jet Eddie Price had 15 yards on 20 touches on November 4, 1951 against a team named the Yanks. It was quite a different outcome than we typically see against the Texans.
In the previous five matchups Henry had with the Texans, he put up 1,018 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Henry's reign over his division rivals will be a large part of what is remembered when his career ends, so he certainly will want to get back to his expected production in Week 17.
Not only because Henry certainly wants to play well, but also because this very well could be Henry's last game against the Texans as a member of the Titans. Henry's future with the team is uncertain, so every opportunity means that much more.
Henry talked about the need to bounce back before Thursday's practice.
"I don't really try to get too caught up in the last game, we didn't play well enough," Henry admitted. "The main focus is playing better than the previous game. Playing a lot better, really. They did a great job last game. Just watching all the film, seeing all the things you can correct and learn from. Go out there and try to be effective and efficient on Sunday."
One more incredible performance from Henry to potentially cap off his success against them would be exactly how to go out. If this is in fact, Henry's last run with the team.
