The Unknown Woman Behind The Titans Player Development
NASHVILLE - When it comes to the women of the Tennessee Titans, most fans know owner Amy Adams- Strunk. She is almost exclusively the only female name mentioned, but not the only one who plays a prominent role in the franchise.
Tina Tuggle, vice president and DEI officer, has been part of the Titans organization for 24 years and is entering her second season in that role after 15 years leading the department. She also oversees the development and implementation of all Titans community impact activations, Tennessee Titans Entertainment, alumni relations, and Titans Foundation programming.
On Tuesday, former Titans defensive back and current NFL Network host Jason McCourty shared his thoughts and some praise for Tuggle in an article on the network's site.
In an article titled '2023 NFL Season, 32 Teams, 32 People To Root For,' McCourty went off the beaten path of writing about a player, he praised Tuggle for her work and the impact she had on him as a rookie entering the league.
"When I arrived in Tennessee as a rookie in 2009, Tuggle, then the team's director of player development, helped me and other youngsters get the resources we needed to adjust to our new normal. She is one of the best human beings out there and knows how to give you that tough love. Now the Titans' vice present/DEI officer, Tuggle is an invaluable mother figure to hundreds of players who've come through that organization -- leaving her inspiring mark on everyone she works with."
It's easy to recognize and root for our favorite players or the great story guys, but it's not often that someone who's spent 24 years doing the unseen work behind the scenes to help those players finally get some recognition and credit of her own.
While we're at it, kudos to McCourty for using his platform to recognize Tuggle when there were so many others who we've all heard of that he could have chosen.
