Tennessee Titans Coach Mike Vrabel Announces Ryan Tannehill as Starting QB if Will Levis is Out

The Tennessee Titans not only lost to the Houston Texans, but saw starting rookie quarterback Will Levis get injured. With Levis' availability in question, head coach Mike Vrabel announced Ryan Tannehill would get the nod if Levis can't go.

The Tennessee Titans saw Will Levis get twisted up and in significant pain during the end of their loss to the Houston Texans and it turns out the injury looked worse than it was as Levis has since not been ruled out for Week 16. However, if Levis does have to miss the game due to the ankle injury, there is no doubt who we will see at quarterback.

Mike Vrabel announced on Wednesday that Ryan Tannehill would be back in the starting role if Levis can't play.

"I would imagine that Ryan will take those snaps," Vrabel explained, "and Malik will be with the offense as well and then we will see where it goes."

Tannehill has been on the bench since suffering, coincidentally, a similar injury to Levis which was, coincidentally, like Tannehill's injuries from 2022 that ended his season, back in Week 6 against the Baltimore Ravens. He will not get a chance to return to the role he held for 61 games during his time in Tennessee.

There was some debate in the fan base about which quarterback should start for the Titans if Levis can't play. Tannehill offers the chance to win and some feel he is owed the chance for his time with the team, but Malik Willis offers a chance for development and perhaps a trade in the offseason.

Regardless, Vrabel has declared that is will be Tannehill and is also was very abrupt in discussing his reasoning for the decision.

"Ryan has been the backup quarterback," Vrabel said.

Levis will not practice on Wednesday according to Vrabel and with the nature of his injury it is fair to expect that we do not see the rookie this week. This likely means we will see Tannehill back and that will create an interesting scenario at minimum.
