Titans History In The NFL Draft And Other Numbers
NASHVILLE- When the Tennessee Titans and the NFL kick off their 2023 draft on Thursday night, this will be the 25th time this franchise will have participated.
Over those years there, the Titans have compiled hundreds of good and bad picks and made many memories on and off the field. Thanks to the Titans media relations department, here are a few historical numbers on the draft and other things.
3: Prior drafts in Titans/Oilers history in which the team has used the 11th overall pick: 1977 (tackle Morris Towns), 1985 (defensive back Richard Johnson), and 2014 (tackle Taylor Lewan).
5: Rookies on the Titans' final 53-man roster in 2022 who entered the NFL by signing with the Titans as undrafted free agents: cornerback Tre Avery, running back Julius Chestnut, linebacker Jack Gibbens, offensive lineman Xavier Newman and punter Ryan Stonehouse.
15: Previous seasons Ran Carthon spent in NFL personnel departments before arriving in Tennessee as general manager in 2023.
15: Estimated total duration in hours of the three-day NFL Draft.
18.1: Average turnover (number of players) on the Titans' 53-man roster over the past ten years—new players added after one season's final game to the next season's first game.
20: All-time draft picks by the Titans/Oilers from the University of Texas, which is the most of any school for the team. Oklahoma is second with 15 draft picks by the team.
25: Drafts, including 2023, during the franchise's "Titans era," which began in 1999: Defensive end Jevon Kearse (16th overall pick in 1999) was the Titans' first draft pick of the era.
