Tennessee Titans Snap Counts & Takeaways from Week 3 Loss to Cleveland Browns
It was not the best showing for the Tennessee Titans when they lost to the Cleveland Browns 27-3 on Sunday and the snap counts reflected that. For the first time this year, and probably not the last if this game was any indication, we saw some backups get some snaps.
Offense
Namely, Malik Willis who got two snaps to end the game. There are four possible reasons why we would see Willis in the snap ledger and three of them probably don't mean the Titans are winning. That was certainly the case this time.
For a second straight week Nick Westbrook-Ikhine led the receivers in snaps. Not sure that it matter much who played wide receiver for the Titans on Sunday though with the amount of pressure the Browns were getting in the backfield.
Derrick Henry's snap count is the obvious standout here. Only 18 snaps for Henry on the day and they only led to 20 yards on 11 carries. One of Henry's worst outings in his career. While most will say involving Henry more is the answer, this may become more common if the Titans continue to be down by multiple scores every game.
Defense
Harold Landry has been struggling in his return from an ACL tear in 2022 and we finally saw the Titans limit his snap count after playing over 50 snaps in each of the Titans' first two games. That required an increase in the snaps of third-year player Rashad Weaver, who has had little impact after having 5.5 sacks in 2022.
We also saw a major drop off in the snaps for third-year safety Elijah Molden who played every snap against the Chargers in Week 2 with starter Amani Hooker out. With Hooker back against the Browns you knew Molden's reps would decrease, but going from every snap to only 28% is quite a difference for someone who is playing well.
