Sunderland see January bid for Sevilla forward rejected
Sunderland have seen a bid for Sevilla forward Musa Drammeh rejected, according to reports in Spain.
Earlier this month, Sunderland Nation exclusively revealed the Black Cats’ interest in the 21-year-old Gambian forward, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
Sevilla want to keep him, though, and some reports in Spain claim they have an option to extend his deal by a year if they chose to, meaning they won’t necessarily have to be worried about having to scramble for a fee for him in January.
And, according to Diario de Sevilla, Sunderland have already come with a bid to test their resolve.
“The English club, as Diario de Sevilla has learned , has come to offer for the player, but Sevilla has rejected it,” the report reads.
“They classify him as a very important player for the reserve team and with characteristics that could serve the first team in the future.”
Although Drammeh can play up front, it is on the right wing where he has produced his best football for Sevilla’s B side and that is the position in which he has reportedly caught Sunderland’s eye.
Sunderland are likely to be active next month, with three key positioned identified as requiring strengthening. They are also keen to look at some loan deals for fringe players who need game time to develop, with Jewison Bennette the most likely to head out.
Drammeh, meanwhile, has also been linked with Birmingham City.
