Maybe It's Never Too Late to Start Bowl Projections

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — It was a fairly simple question from an Arkansas fan Tuesday, but still a little surprising. What former SEC coach Steve Spurrier famously called "talking season" is apparently starting a little earlier.

But when a fan asked me what bowl game might me in a store for the Razorbacks this year, the best thing I could do was chuckle and told him to check back with in November. With the Hogs still finishing the regular baseball season and softball hosting an NCAA Regional this week that seems a little bigger.

The Hogs are getting back to where people are projecting them to be in a pretty good bowl game. A couple have them in Nashville, Tenn., for the Music City Bowl in December against a Big Ten team and another one is projecting a Gator Bowl matchup with Florida State.

Of course, one of them is projecting a matchup with Illinois and former coach Bret Bielema. It won't be the last time we hear about that potential matchup we'll probably hear a lot of that.

All they have to do is get six wins. While they should have four non-conference wins (the game in Fayetteville against BYU is the only one that might not be a challenge), who knows what's going to take place once we get to SEC play.

We'll have more on that soon as the story is already in the works on the general outline of the season is already under way. They might want to get a little bit figured out on the roster first.

Sam Pittman would probably like to have that done, too.
