Five reasons Auburn could struggle against the Georgia Bulldogs
The Auburn Tigers are set to host the best team in the land as the Georgia Bulldogs are headed to town.
This will be a rock fight as the Auburn defense will try and hold down the Georgia offense while Auburn's offense tries to score points.
Let's take a look at five reasons Auburn could struggle against the #1 Georgia Bulldogs.
The Auburn passing attack is flat
It's no secret Auburn's offense has been atrocious against the two power five teams the Tigers have played. Auburn will have to put up points if they want to pull off the upset over the Georgia Bulldogs. They will need to move the football through the air, which means Payton Thorne will need to play a good game. Coach Freeze says he has been more involved in the game plan this week, so hopefully, Auburn's offense is sparked this week. If Throne and this passing attack struggle, it could be a long Saturday for Auburn fans.
The Tigers can't run the football
As all Auburn fans know, Georgia is full of large players along the defensive line and the entire front seven. It won't be easy to establish the run against this Bulldog defense. Auburn will need to have balance on offense, so they can't just rely on the run game or the passing game. These two things need to work in unison for Auburn to succeed. Jarquez Hunter and the rest of the running backs need to have a good day on the ground if Auburn wants to be in this football game.
The defense gets tired
If Auburn's offense can't establish success against the Bulldogs on Saturday, it will lead to the defense being on the field a ton and getting tired quickly. We saw this against Texas A&M last Saturday. Auburn's offense needs to stay on the field to keep this Tigers defense fresh.
Georgia receivers are open
Auburn has a banged-up secondary, and Georgia has a talented passing attack. If Carson Beck and the Bulldog receivers are able to pick Auburn's secondary apart, this game could get out of hand quickly. The Tigers need to bend and not break against the Bulldogs on Saturday. Some players in this Auburn secondary will need to step up and lock down the Georgia receivers if they want to pull off the upset.
Brock Bowers in a matchup nightmare
Brock Bowers is the best tight end in college football, so Auburn needs to make sure they are paying attention to him on Saturday. He is a matchup nightmare, so the Auburn defense needs to have a game plan to stop him. If Bowers is open all game long, he will have a big game against the Tigers, and this game could get out of hand. If Ron Roberts is able to plan for Bowers and lock him down, this would be huge for the Tigers.
