Ahmad Gardner Headlines Record-Breaking New York Jets Draft Class
CINCINNATI — Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner had no idea who his draft mates would be when he put on his New York Jets hat on Thursday night, and it turned out to be a historic haul for the franchise.
According to Scouts Inc., the Jets are the first NFL team since the group began scouting prospects for ESPN in 2004 to draft three players with at least a 92/100 grade.
Gardner (93), defensive end Jermaine Johnson (92), and wide receiver Garrett Wilson (93) all met the historic threshold. New York selected all three players in the first round after using their extra pick from the Seahawks and trading back into the round for Johnson.
The haul follows a 2021 draft where GM Joe Douglas became the first decision-maker since 2008 to pick three players with a grade of 90 or better (Zach Wilson, Elijah Moore, and Alijah Vera-Tucker).
Time will tell if Gardner and the rest of these recent highly-touted draft picks can land the Jets their first Super Bowl since 1969.
