Luke Fickell: Myjai Sanders is 'Your Offensive Linemen's Nightmare'
CINCINNATI — Former Bearcats player Myjai Sanders has fallen down draft baords since the end of the season, but head coach Luke Fickell is still very confident that he can perform in a more comfortable NFL role.
He discussed how versatile he was at UC with Dave Lapham on In The Trenches.
"He's your offensive linemen's nightmare," Fickell told Lapham about Sanders. "There's not a play that he's not going 100 miles per hour, and there's nobody that our offensive line guys disliked more when we were in a padded practice."
Fickell actually thinks he played a bit out of position for Cincinnati.
"For us," Fickell continued. "He was a heavy five-technique, a four-technique, a four-I technique at 250 pounds, but he'll put his face on everything and it's not like, 'well, he's only 250 pounds, how is he going to play those positions?' Well, he will he can because it doesn't bother him. Don't tell him he can't do it, he's only 250 pounds, because that's going to make a long day for everybody. So that's what he is; he's a guy that's going to be relentless every single day in practice."
Sanders had a lowered sack total last year because of that wide-ranging role. But it never seemed to bother him en route to the greatest season in program hisotry.
