CINCINNATI — Indiana transfer guard Rob Phinisee is a Bearcat.

The senior chose Cincinnati after whittling down his choices to UC and Butler. Phinisee took a visit to Cincinnati this week and it sealed the deal.

The 6-foot-1, 187-pound guard averaged 4.5 points and 2.1 rebounds for Indiana last season. His playing time dropped from 27 minutes to 18 minutes per game, and he struggled to maintain his shooting efficiency.

Phinisee notched a 38.3% true shooting mark during his final campaign as a Hoosier. For context, C.J. Anthony (27.5%) was the only Bearcat to post a mark worse than that in 2021-22, and Anthony played just 15 minutes all season.

The senior also sported a 47.5% TS rate in 2019-20, and it's fallen off steadily since then. A change of scenery and one last year of eligibility could be just what he needs to get going, but he figures to have a greater defensive impact than offensive impact early on in the season.

Despite his scoring issues, Phinisee is ranked as Evan Miya's 94th-best transfer overall and 34th-best point guard.
