CINCINNATI — Every great college football program has an identity or position group they feed off oof, and for the Bearcats that resides in one spot: offensive line.

Head coach Luke Fickell discussed why with Dave Lapham on the In The Trenches podcast.

"We call ourselves an offensive line driven program," Fickell said. "We have not changed from the day we walked into the door on what we think is the most important for what we need to do. Not everybody understands what it means to be an offensive line driven program. It doesn't mean I just like the offensive linemen. But who they are and what they are all about is what we want to base our program on.

"Nobody is more humble, nobody works harder, nobody has developed better, and offensive linemen are the ones that do all the work and maybe don't get the credit. So it's not just that we love offensive linemen, but it's the idea of what they bring to our culture—What they bring to our environment. And what by nature they really are."

Cincinnati will hopefully land a former piece of that puzzle on an NFL roster soon in Vinny McConnell. All while the team brings back all five starting offensive lineman from the 2021 College Football Playoff run.
