Stars of the Game: UC/Arkansas
CHARLESTON — During the Cincinnati Bearcats' season-opening loss at Arkansas, a few players delivered standout performances.
Here are this week's three stars of the game:
1. Ivan Pace Jr.
Pace Jr. was every bit as advertised today. 12 tackles, a sack, 3.5 for loss, and he was all over the field. He showed that he is going to make this linebacker room a really good group, and he just might be the leader of it.
2. Ben Bryant
Bryant displayed incredible toughness and resiliency in the second half today. His throws down the field and poise in the pocket kept the Bearcats in the game after a lackluster first half. After a summer-long battle to determine this team's starting quarterback, Bryant not only won the job but cemented it with his second-half performance. The Bearcats are in good hands with him going forward.
3. Jaquan Sheppard
Sheppard showed that there is promise in the secondary post Sauce Gardner and Coby Bryant. The senior defensive back had two pass break-ups and nine tackles in his first start. For a program replacing two All-American cornerbacks and another safety drafted to the NFL, Sheppard showed immense promise today.
