CINCINNATI — The finishing touches are getting applied to UC's exit from the AAC. According to The Action Network's Brett Mcmurphy, Cincinnati is working on a settlement in the "$17-20 million range" to exit the league and join the Big 12 on July 1, 2023.

"Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF are negotiating a settlement in the '$17 million to $20 million range,'" McMurphy wrote. "Which would allow the schools to exit the American Athletic Conference early and officially join the Big 12 on July 1, 2023, sources told Action Network."

All signs point to this deal getting done by June—according to McMurphy—paving the way for Cincinnati football and the fall teams to be the first sports to wear the C-Paw and compete in the Big 12. AAC Commissioner Mike Aresco sought a settlement near $35 million per school, but McMurphy noted that's been negotiated down.

Houston, Cincinnati, and UCF are nearly to the finish line in their goal of joining independent BYU as the newest Big 12 members.
