Despite Win Over Bryant, Bearcats Still 'Pissed' About Loss to Xavier in Crosstown Shootout

Cincinnati beat Bryant on Tuesday night, but Miller went out of his way to address Saturday's loss in the Crosstown Shootout.

CINCINNATI — The Bearcats rebounded from their loss to Xavier in the Crosstown Shootout with an 85-53 win over Bryant on Tuesday night, but that doesn't mean Cincinnati has moved past the rivalry game.

"We're pretty hungover from Saturday," head coach Wes Miller said after the win. "This group's pissed. Obviously I'm pissed. You take those kinda losses hard. We take them all hard. This group took that loss harder than any team I've had take a loss since I've been here. They're pissed."

Xavier beat Cincinnati 84-79. It was their fifth consecutive win in the series. The Bearcats are 8-1 on the season.

Miller is optimistic that the loss could help the team over the course of the season.

"We had one of our best practices of the year yesterday. I thought we'd come out and play unbelievable today," Miller said. "They're pissed off, but I think we addressed some things from that game that had us a little gun-shy or maybe not as confident tonight. I think big picture that's good because some of those things need to be addressed, but we haven't quite gotten through that process yet to get confident again. We gotta get confident."

The Bearcats play the Dayton Flyers on Saturday, Dec 16 at 7 p.m. ET at Heritage Bank Center.
