CINCINNATI — The Bearcats' football program hosted a wide range of recruits over the weekend. One four-star defensive end seemed to enjoy themselves. Mario Eugenio and his family came for all of the Queen City sights.

The Gaither High School standout would be a massive boost to Luke Fickell's 2022 class. He is No. 71 overall (No. 6 edge defender) in Sports Illustrated's SI99 rankings and peppers all the other major ranking lists. ESPN slotted him with an 82 overall prospect grade and a four-star designation. Rivals ranks him 209th nationally and the 10th best defensive overall. He checks in at No. 266 overall and 16th among defensive ends on the 247Sports rankings.

Eugenio checks in at 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, and is the 20th best defensive end nationally in ESPN's rankings. Eugenio put together an impressive senior campaign to justify his busy recruiting schedule. In 2021, the senior's amassed 32 tackles (15 for loss), and eight sacks.

Many analysts project Eugenio to ultimately sign with the Bearcats. Saturday marked his first official visit to any school since June, and he de-committed from Michigan in early October.

Across three seasons of varsity playing time, Eugenio's tallied 120 tackles (53 for loss), 38 sacks, and four interceptions. Cincinnati currently has the AAC's top-rated class in 2022, according to 247Sports.
