Rayvon Griffith Transferring to AZ Compass for Senior High School Season
CINCINNATI — The Bearcats' top 2023 basketball recruit is leaving the Queen City, but not for long. Rayvon Griffith announced he is transferring to AZ Compass Prep in Chandler, Ariz.
The major jump in competition should only breed good things for the Bearcats' first recruit in the Class of 2023. AZ Compass is playing in the National Interscholastic Basketball Conference and faces many of the top teams nationally, including IMG Academy, Oak Hill, and Montverde.
Many of the nations top high school players represent NIBC teams, making this transfer decision a good bellwether for the current state of Griffith's game. He'll be able to quickly see how big of a jump he needs to make and adjust throughout his senior season.
Taft High School fans won't get to see the incoming Hometown Hero complete a State Title defense, but a move out west should sharpen Griffith's skills in time for a transition into UC being a Power Five program.
