Sports Illustrated Names Bearcats Signee Jizzle James a 'Program-Changing Commit'

The Bearcats have a consensus top-25 recruiting class fresh off Wes Miller's first full offseason as head coach.

CINCINNATI — Jizzle James signed his National Letter of Intent with UC last week and Sports Illustrated thinks he's one of the top signings of the early period.

"Even with his reputation for playing in March," SI's Jason Jordan wrote. "Bearcats coach Wes Miller has taken his lumps for not being able to land top-tier talent. Miller took over at Cincinnati last April after a decade as the head coach at UNC Greensboro, and while, at this point in the year, James isn’t considered the top-10 prospect fans want, he has proven himself to be considered in the top tier of the class. James is the son of former NFL running back Edgerrin James and turned in a dominant performance in the Nike EYBL this past summer. His addition is huge for Miller’s perception as a recruiter headed into year two."

According to 247Sports Composite, James is the 52nd-ranked player in the class and the ninth-ranked point guard. ESPN has him ranked as the 59th-best player in the class, and the 14th-best point guard.

Cincinnati has now signed two top-60 recruits in Wes Miller's first full-scale recruiting cycle after landing Rayvon Griffith earlier this year.
