CINCINNATI — UC just made the top-eight schools for St. Frances Academy (Maryland) quarterback Michael Van Buren.

The 2024 four-star passer is also down to Penn State, Oregon, Miami, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Maryland, and Oklahoma.

According to 247Sports Composite, Van Buren is the 103rd-ranked player nationally and the eighth-rated quarterback. He just got offered by UC today as new head coach Scott Satterfield hits the ground running on the recruiting trail.

Van Buren is still interested after Louisville previously recruited him and offered.

The 6-foot quarterback has dynamic arm talent that he displayed against a buzzsaw schedule this season. St. Frances Academy is one of the 20-best high school programs in the country and played a national slate against top teams in 2022. Van Buren still went 9-1, with his only loss being to IMG Academy (Florida).

The twitchy QB is a perfect fit for Satterfield's dual-threat offensive vision. He runs RPOs soundly and can make guys miss in the open field. Van Buren is accurate to all three levels of the field, including a nice looping deep ball that looks easy to catch. The junior makes quick decisions in the pocket and already looks competent reading a defense.

His most impressive throws to me happened on sideline balls during opposite-field rollouts. Van Buren is teammates with current Bearcats 2023 commit Brian "Mook" Simms. Check out some of his highlights.
