GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Another couple of Gators were upgraded on the participation report, one veteran Florida player appeared to make another position change and a few NFL scouts were in attendance on the 12th day of Florida's 2023 fall training camp.

Find All Gators' notebook from the media viewing window of the practice, as well as our observations and highlights from previous fall practices, below.

Gators Fall Camp 2023: Day 12 Notes and Observations

  • Scouts from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins attended the practice and were observed focusing on the defensive linemen and edge rushers. Of note, Gators junior EDGE Princely Umanmielen was named to the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, a.k.a. Defensive Player of the Year for College Football, earlier on Monday. Previously, scouts from the Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs attended UF's intrasquad scrimmage on Thursday.
  • Redshirt junior Ja'Markis Weston was interestingly witnessed performing individual drills with the inside linebackers. Formerly a wide receiver, the rising fifth-year Gator moved to safety earlier this offseason but has not cracked the projected two-deep at the position throughout spring and fall camp. His 6-foot-3, 232-pound frame could be better suited at the second level of the defense rather than in the secondary, which makes this situation worth monitoring moving forward. Weston caught six passes for 81 yards and a touchdown during his time as a pass-catcher for the Gators, from 2019-22.
  • Monday marked the second day in a row in which a player was seen practicing with a new position group in individual drills. Redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Tyreak Sapp joined the edge rushers on Sunday, after EDGE Justus Boone suffered a torn ACL in Thursday's scrimmage.
  • Florida continues to get healthier, as Monday followed a trend in providing positive participation reports after minor injuries impacted availability primarily on days eight and nine of camp.
  • Two players, redshirt sophomore linebacker Scooby Williams (unknown injury) and sophomore cornerback Devin Moore (upper body) were upgraded from limited on Sunday to full participants on Monday. Both were seen without no-contact jerseys and taking part in individual drills at their respective positions.
  • Junior tight end Jonathan Odom (knee) and redshirt freshman Arlis Boardingham (unknown) remained limited participants in individual drills, as Odom has been all camp and Boardingham has been since day seven.
  • Redshirt sophomore quarterback Jack Miller III (unknown), redshirt sophomore offensive tackle Kamryn Waites (Achilles), freshman edge rusher Kelby Collins (unknown), sophomore linebacker Shemar James (knee) and walk-on freshman defensive tackle Andre Morris (unknown) were seen in pads and no-contact jerseys performing rehabilitative drills to the side of the field.
  • Redshirt junior tight end Dante Zanders (lower-body) and freshman offensive tackle Caden Jones (unknown) remained absent. Napier estimated on Friday that Zanders would be out for "10 days or so."
