Florida DL Keenan Landry to Enter Transfer Portal
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Keenan Landry intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on Sunday.
"I would like to thank coach [Billy] Napier and coach [Sean Spencer] for giving me the opportunity to play at the University of Florida. The relationships and memories I have built with my brothers will be something I always cherish," Landry wrote on social media. "I have entered my name into the transfer portal."
Landry, a native of Jennings, La., joined the Gators with preferred walk-on status ahead of the 2022 season following his junior college transfer from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where he produced 31 tackles and a sack over nine games as a true freshman in 2021. Previously, Landry was a teammate of now-UF running back Trevor Etienne at Jennings High.
Landry earned a scholarship from the program amid Florida's 2023 regular season, in October, along with redshirt sophomore wide receiver Taylor Spierto.
"We're fortunate this year that we have two scholarships that we can give away. We have two players that we feel, as an organization and as a team, that are going to get scholarships," Napier told the team following its Oct. 19 practice. "I want y'all to celebrate with these guys. This is special."
Landry finished his two-season Gators career having made three appearances. He leaves the program with two seasons of collegiate eligibility remaining.
Landry is the 10th member of Florida's 2023 roster with announced and/or reported plans to transfer this offseason, chronologically following defensive back Jadarrius Perkins, offensive tackle Jordan Herman, tight end Jonathan Odom, kicker Adam Mihalek, defensive back Kamari Wilson, defensive lineman Will Norman, quarterback Max Brown, wide receiver Caleb Douglas and wide receiver Thai Chiaokhiao-Bowman.
Underclassmen, such as Landry, will officially be eligible to enter the transfer portal during its winter window opening, between Dec. 4, 2023, and Jan. 2, 2024.
This is a breaking news story that will be updated as further details emerge.
