The Georgia football program has sat at the top of the college football world for two years in a row now thanks to their back-to-back national titles. Head coach Kirby Smart and his team have grinded their way up the mountain top. That type of success comes at a cost though as Georgia has financially committed itself to do anything necessary to make sure they stay at the top.

CBS released an article that displayed college football's biggest spenders when it came to recruiting in 2022, and Georgia ranks first amongst all power five programs. Last year the program spent $4,506,248 which is nearly double what their average spending was from 2017-2022 which came out to be $2,753,143. For context, the next highest in the SEC was Texas A&M whose expenses tallied up to be $2,984,168. Michigan was the biggest spender in the Big10 with $2,240,064 in spending. Alabama ranked fourth amongst all SEC teams.

As CBS discusses in the article, recruiting budgets can cover a wide variety of things. Anything from transportation for recruits and covering visits while recruits are in town. Recruiting at a high level does not necessarily guarantee that a program will find the same success on the field, but seven of the last eight titles were won by schools in the top three in recruiting spending.

Since 2019, Georgia has landed a total of 18 five-star recruits according to 247's rankings. The Bulldogs have annually recruited at a top three level in the country and have reeled in talent from all across the country. In some of Georgia's recent recruiting classes, they have landed players from Maryland, California, Nevada, Virginia, and Texas.

Smart and his staff have consistently dominated the landscape of recruiting, and it has helped bring in good results on Saturdays in the fall. Times is money, and money is time and clearly, Georgia's football program has no hesitations when it comes to spending money to make sure they put their best foot forward for the nation's top high school prospects.
