Cincinnati Reds select Georgia Tech signee Kyle Henley in 2023 MLB Draft
It is the third day of the 2923 MLB Draft and Georgia Tech still has prospects and signees that are waiting to be selected. One of their high school signees just came off the board.
Kyle Henley, who played at Denmark High School in Georgia, was selected in the 14th round (pick 408) by the Cincinnati Reds this afternoon.
Henley is a projected outfielder and was ranked as the No. 217 overall high school prospect by perfectgame.org.
I am interested to see if Henley decides to sign with the Reds. Georgia Tech's other signees that were selected in the first ten rounds are likely gone, but players drafted today could be a different story. Be sure to stay tuned to see what happens.
Here is the scouting report on Henley courtesy of perfectgame.org:
"Kyle Henley is a 2023 OF/RHP with a 6-3 175 lb. frame from Cumming, GA who attends Denmark. Long and lean athletic build with lots of room to get stronger. Outstanding runner, 6.30 in the sixty, type of body that could gain speed with additional strength. Right handed hitter, hits from a wide base, good connection between his lower half and his swing, short inside swing path with middle of the field line drive contact, bat speed will continue to improve as well with additional strength and physical maturity. Primary outfielder on defense, has good fundamentals through the ball and good footwork into his throws, long arm action, gets some carry on his throws and is pretty accurate, speed will be a definite asset to him on defense. Projectable athlete with a big present tool, key to development will be adding strength. Good student."
