2023 Forward Baye Ndongo Commits To Georgia Tech

Ndongo becomes the lone member of the high school class for Georgia Tech

Ever since he decommitted from Rutgers, it seemed that 2023 forward Baye Ndongo was trending toward Georgia Tech, but it was made official today.

Joe Tipton at On3 Sports reported earlier today on social media that Ndongo has committed today to Georgia Tech.

New Yellow Jackets head coach Damon Stoudamire hired former Rutgers assistant Karl Hobbs to be his assistant head coach and that may have played a role in this recruitment.

Ndongo is rated as a four-star prospect on the 247Sports Composite, ranking as the 120th-best player in the country and 27th power forward. The 6'8 220 LBS forward becomes the lone commit in the 2023 class. Four-star guard Blue Cain initially signed with Georgia Tech but asked for a release from his NLI and later committed to Georgia.

Georgia Tech also has the 13th-rated transfer portal class according to 247Sports.

Kowacie Reeves (Florida), Ebenezer Dowuona (NC State), Tyzhaun Claude (Western Carolina), Tafara Gapare (UMass), Amaree Abram (Ole Miss), and Jalen Forrest (Presbyterian) are the transfers joining the program this offseason.

Guard Tristan Maxwell, center Cyril Martynov, forward Freds Pauls Bagatskis, forward Jordan Meka, center Rodney Howard, and forward Jalon Moore has all entered the transfer portal as well. Howard, Smith, and Moore have been contributors over the past couple of seasons, but the others had small roles.

This is a good get for Stoudamire and he has prioritized length and athleticism in the players he has brought in at forward. I am interested to see if Ndongo can have any kind of impact next season.
