Former Notre Dame And Idaho Linebacker Paul Moala Commits To Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech has added another linebacker ahead of the 2023 season.
Former Notre Dame and Idaho linebacker Paul Moala announced on social media today that he is going to be coming to Atlanta to play for Brent Key.
Moala started his career as a three-star recruit (247Sports) from Mishawaka, IN. He played for three seasons as a member of the Fighting Irish, totaling 22 tackles. He transferred to Idaho last season and had a career-high 44 tackles, two sacks, and three interceptions.
Georgia Tech is in the process of trying to replace star linebackers Charlie Thomas and Ace Eley and they have looked to the transfer portal to do so. Moala becomes the fourth linebacker taken in the portal, joining Bralen Oliver (Minnesota), Andre White Jr (Texas A&M), and Austin Dean (Rutgers).
Having more options is never a bad thing at a position and Moala gives the Yellow Jackets defense an option at linebacker. I don't know if he is going to start, but he could provide depth and be a special teams player at minimum.
During the spring transfer window, Georgia Tech has brought in offensive lineman Connor Scaglione (Princeton), wide receiver Dominick Blaylock (Georgia), cornerback Omar Daniels (Kansas State), and defensive lineman Eddie Kelly (USF).
