Georgia Tech Quarterback Commit Aaron Philo Talks Yellow Jackets At Elite 11
Georgia Tech got their quarterback for the 2024 class this week with the commitment of Aaron Philo, who plays at Prince Avenue Christian in Georgia.
Philo got an invite for the Elite 11 quarterback camp that was held today and was competing with some of the top quarterbacks in the country. I got to catch up with Philo to discuss his recent commitment, his relationship with Georgia Tech coaches Chris Weinke and Buster Faulkner, and when he plans to stop by Atlanta again for his official visit.
While he was competing against some of the top quarterbacks in the country, Philo was very confident in how he performed today and he seemed pleased with the work that he was able to do:
"I definitely think that I have started off strong, I am having a strong day, I am ripping it out there and being accurate, which are the main things."
There was no shortage of things that seemed to stand out to Philo about Georgia Tech and why he wanted to make it his school, but his relationships with Faulkner and Weinke seemed to be very important:
"The coaching staff that they brought in, Coach Weinke won a Heisman Trophy, developed QBs at the highest level. I want to get in there and play for him and be developed and to be the best quarterback in the country. Coach Faulkner, I love him, he's my guy, I have had a good relationship with him for about two years now and just the culture that Coach Key is bringing in, I am really excited about that."
"The relationship (with Weinke and Faulkner) has been good, I can tell that they want me and I am their guy and so that definitely feels good."
There is one thing that Philo told me he wanted to work on more than anything else ahead of his final season of high school:
"I would like to be able to run a little bit more and just add that aspect to my game."
Philo also told he about his official visit plans for the Yellow Jackets, when he will be back in Atlanta, and his plans to be the lead recruiter for this 2024 class:
"I am going to be taking my official visit with Georgia Tech during the first weekend of June. I definitely have to be the guy and the leader that brings in these top recruits in-state and out-of-state so we can go get this thing rolling."
