After Jaeden Mustaf commitment, where does Georgia Tech's 2024 class rank?
Georgia Tech Basketball pulled off one of its biggest recruiting wins in years today when Jaeden Mustaf (No. 39 player on 247 Sports Rankings) committed to the program. It is a big win for 1st-year head coach Damon Stoudamire and one that he hopes will get the Yellow Jackets back to competing for ACC championships.
Mustaf, who plays at Overtime Elite in Atlanta (GA), committed to the Yellow Jackets today over his other finalists Florida State, Maryland, Indiana, NC State, and Arkansas. Mustaf took an official visit to Georgia Tech back in the summer and Stoudamire and his staff, particularly assistant coach Karl Hobbs, did a tremendous job in bringing top talent to Georgia Tech.
So where does the Yellow Jackets 2024 class rank nationally and in the ACC after this big commitment?
Mustaf nearly vaulted Georgia Tech into the top 25 recruiting classes just by himself. Georgia Tech ranks 27th in the country according to 247Sports and they are only narrowly behind Miami, Illinois, and Texas.
In the ACC, Georgia Tech is currently 7th after today's commitment. Every ACC school in front of Georgia Tech, except for Miami, has multiple commitments in the 2024 class. North Carolina sits at the top of the conference and they are followed by Notre Dame, Duke, Syracuse, NC State, and then Miami.
When he was first hired, Stoudamire talked about the importance of recruiting at Georgia Tech:
No.1, this is a relationship business and I have great relationships and I am dialed in and in tune to what it takes to be successful at this. So obviously, you know you have this Atlanta Metropolitan area, but you also have the rest of the country and me and the staff that I put together are going to beat the pavement to do the best we can to find the best student-athletes for here but we have a major major hub here in Atlanta and I don't think it has been tapped into the way it could be tapped into."
Stoudamire is still going to work hard to add talent to this team and a potential star like Mustaf is a great start.
