Georgia Tech Basketball officially announces new additions to coaching staff

Georgia Tech is set to begin its first season under Damon Stoudamire

Georgia Tech Basketball head coach Damon Stoudamire has completed his coaching staff with two new on-court assistants and new members to the support staff.

As I wrote earlier this week, Stoudamire hired Bonzi Wells, who has been the head coach of LeMoyne-Owen College for the past two seasons.

Here is Well's bio from the school's website:

During his time at LeMoyne-Owen, Wells went 23-16 in SIAC play and coached two players who were selected to all-conference teams. Former Magicians standout Jaquan Lawrence was selected to the inaugural HBCU All-Star game and was named SIAC Defensive player of the year under Wells. "I learned a lot from coach, it was a great experience getting to play under someone who played the game and had success at the highest level", said Lawrence.

Stoudamire has also hired Nate Babcock, an assistant coach with the NBA G League Grand Rapids Gold the last two seasons.

Also joining the Yellow Jackets’ staff are director of player personnel Matt Holt, who spent the last six seasons as video coordinator for Nebraska men’s basketball, director of strength and conditioning Justin Landry, who spent the last three years working with the men’s and women’s basketball programs at San Diego State, and recruiting and operations coordinator Jake Alburtus, who served as a graduate assistant on the staff at Arkansas the past two years (Per Georgia Tech PR).

Here is what Stoudamire had to say about the additions to the Georgia Tech Basketball program:

“I'm excited about the people we've been able to bring in to this program,” said Stoudamire. “This is a versatile group, and it’s a youthful group. I wanted some younger guys for the most part, but we do have some experience on the staff as well. I like the diversity, I like the different basketball minds that we have. We have a mixture of college and pro backgrounds that will serve us well.”
