Georgia Tech transfer target commits to Florida

Yale transfer EJ Jarvis announced his commitment to Florida today

EJ Jarvis announced his commitment to Florida today after releasing his top eight schools earlier in the week. Georgia Tech fans had hoped the Yellow Jackets would be gaining a player after seeing GT on his list, but Jarvis’ visit to Gainsville earlier this week must have sealed the deal. He chose the University of Florida over Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Georgetown, VCU, Miami, and UC Berkeley.

Jarvis is a 6’8” forward graduate transfer who was one of the most sought-after transfers in this class. This past season with Yale, Jarvis averaged 22.2 minutes a game and 11.3 points per game while shooting 55% from the field and 40.6% from three. Defensively, Jarvis was also averaging 5.5 rebounds per game and 1.5 blocks per game, showing his incredible abilities on both sides of the ball.

His contributions helped Yale to become the 2023 Ivy League Conference regular season champions, though they lost the first round of the NIT to Vanderbilt. He was also a part of Yale’s NCAA tournament appearance in 2022 after winning the 2022 Ivy League Conference Championship. Jarvis also earned second-team All-Ivy honors this season for his performances.

An all-around transfer player like Jarvis would have filled some gaps in our team for the 2023-2024 season and would have been new head coach Damon Stoudamire’s first recruit. With Ja’von Franklin graduating, a strong force in the paint is needed, and a dual threat like EJ Jarvis would have filled that role and more perfectly. Tech currently has no incoming talent committed for the next season, but there are still many top players left in the transfer portal linked with Georgia Tech. With a promising new head coach in Stoudamire, we will undoubtedly find a player or two to pick up ahead of the season.
