Report: Georgia Tech Hires Rutgers Assistant Karl Hobbs As Associate Head Coach
Georgia Tech head coach Damon Stoudamire has made his first addition to his coaching staff.
According to a report from Jeff Goodman at Stadium, Stoudamire is going to be hiring current Rutgers assistant head coach Karl Hobbs.
Hobbs is a coaching veteran and has been at Rutgers since 2016. Previous stops include two stints at UConn (2011-2016 as the assistant coach and director of basketball administration, 1993-2000 assistant coach/recruiting coordinator), George Washington (2001-2010, head coach), and his first stop was at Boston University (1988-1993).
As the head coach, Hobbs led George Washington to three NCAA Tournament appearances and as an assistant coach at UConn in 2014, he was a part of the coaching staff that won the national championship.
This hire has been well received by some who cover college basketball and it seems as if Stoudamire has made a good first hire.
