Brent Key gives injury update on wide receiver Chase Lane

Lane missed the last game due to an injury

Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key met with the media today ahead of Saturday's big matchup with Wake Forest and offered some news on injured wide receiver Chase Lane. 

While Lane missed the previous game against Ole Miss, he is going to travel to Wake Forest but be available only in an "emergency" situation. 

Key also said wide receiver Chase Lane (6-105-TD), who missed the Ole Miss game, will travel to Wake Forest but will only be available in an "emergency" situation. Key said Lane should be full-go again, "very soon."

This is what Key had to say about Lane last week: 

"Chase will be out this week. We will continue to kinda see week-to-week with him and where it ends up. It is not a season-ending injury by any means."

It is good news that Lane is going to make the trip. Although he is almost certainly not going to play, it seems like he is on track to return at some point in the future. 

Lane and quarterback Haynes King have made a seamless transition to this offense after both players came over from Texas A&M. This season, Lane has caught six passes for 105 yards and one touchdown and he is averaging 17.5 yards per catch. While he is a big part of the offense when healthy, this has still been one of the best in the conference this season. Georgia Tech is currently third in the ACC in total yards per game, averaging 513, and third in the ACC in passing offense, averaging 310 yards per game. Those numbers should only improve once Lane is officially back.
