Georgia Linebacker lists Georgia Tech as Bulldogs top rival

Georgia Tech faces Georgia in Bobby Dodd Stadium this year

Clean, Old Fashioned Hate is still two months away, but it is never too early to talk about one of the longest rivalries in college football.

Ahead of their matchup with Auburn, Georgia linebacker Jason Dumas-Johnson was asked about the Bulldogs different rivalries and where he would rank Auburn and this is what he had to say:

"I would put Auburn probably 2nd... I don't know, this is my second year here. I know for sure Coach (Smart) would be mad if I did not put Georgia Tech first, so Georgia Tech definitely first. I think Auburn probably second."

This rivalry means something to Kirby Smart, but it also means a great deal to Brent Key and he has not shied away from talking about trying to catch up to the Bulldogs, mentioning them in his first press conference introducing him as the full-time head coach:

"There is one thing I want everyone in this room to understand and everyone associated with Georgia Tech understands... There is an opponent in this state we will work 365 days a year to defeat. We will work 365 days a year to dominate. When we all wake up in the morning, we want to dominate our opponent. The feeling of dominating your opponent is like no other and whatever team is on our schedule, that will be our goal. That is what we will work towards every single day.

Players in here, understand that. That is our goal and that is our mindset. We have an opponent in this state that is included in that. For 365 days, we will work to dominate that opponent. Understand that."

While Georgia Tech has not beaten the Bulldogs since 2016, Key hopes to be the coach that narrows the gap between the two programs.

Georgia Tech faces Bowling Green this Saturday in Atlanta at 3:30 p.m.
