Georgia Tech defensive end Sylvain Yondjouen has a torn ACL, out for 2023 season
Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key announced today that defensive end Sylvain Yondjouen is going to be out for the rest of this season. He also said that Yondjouen plans to return for the 2024 season. Key also said that Yondjouen will have surgery later this month.
Yondjouen had 23 tackles and 2.5 sacks last season he received a 67.0 grade on PFF (Pro Football Focus) last season on 300+ snaps.
So who will step up in Yondjouen's absence?
It will likely fall on Eddie Kelly, Josh Robinson, and Noah Collins to step up in his spot. These guys have talent but have yet to produce at a high level.
Collins finished 2022 with 16 tackles and zero sacks on 207 snaps.
Kelly played one season for the Bulls and he totaled 19 tackles, a fumble recovery, and a pass deflection last season. He is a talented player but is light on experience.
During his time with the Clemson Tigers, Reuben tallied 19 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Reuben had his best season in 2021 when he totaled 2.5 sacks and 14 tackles. According to PFF (Pro Football Focus), Reuben played 192 snaps in 2021 and finished with a 72.2 grade, with a 68.5 grade in run defense and a 69.8 pass-rushing grade. With the Tiger's defensive line healthier, Reuben only saw 56 total snaps during the 2022 season according to PFF.
