OL Joe Fusile Confident In New Coaches And Scheme
The Georgia Tech offensive line is going to be one of the most important positions on the team this season. They bring back everyone who played meaningful snaps last season, but this unit has a lot of growth to get to where they want to be.
The Yellow Jackets' offensive line has been adjusting to new coaching and a new scheme this spring as well. Offensive line coach Geep Wade is in his first season in Atlanta after coming from App State and offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner is in his first season as the offensive coordinator.
One of the guys that is returning for Tech this season is Joe Fusile, who played guard last season and is competing to be a starter up front again this season. He talked with the media yesterday about what it has been like adjusting to the new coaching and scheme this spring and he sounded confident in both:
"Just getting used to new stuff. A new way of doing things, the technique is a little bit different, it is a lot of coming off the ball really fast. We are all excited about it, you can look at App State last year if you want to see how well it works."
Fusile also talked about some of the guys that he has been impressed with this spring:
"A lot of our guys are playing really well. Paul Tchio has been playing a little bit just as we have had guys get knicked up this year. Mike Maye is playing really well... I think Brandon (Best) is going to be good for us. We have a lot of guys that can make that lineup."
Only one week until the White and Gold Spring game kicks off at 1:00 p.m. at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
