Georgia Tech Softball Loses To No. 18 UGA 8-0
Georgia Tech Softball has had a bit of a rocky start to the season with an 8-7 record, but any time you can get a chance to take down your rival, it can make the previous losses feel better. That was the case today for Georgia Tech as they faced the Georgia Bulldogs.
Blake Neleman was the starting pitcher for the Yellow Jackets today.
After a quiet first inning on both sides, the Bulldogs opened up the scoring in the second. After the bases were loaded, UGA hit a two-RBI double to take an early 2-0 lead. A ground out would result in a run being scored to make it 3-0 and then another two-RBI double gave the Bulldogs their fourth and fifth runs of the game and at that point, Chandler Dennis was sent in to take over for Neleman.
Neither offense was able to do anything in the third, but the Bulldogs added to their lead in the fourth. A wild pitch after a couple of singles gave one run to UGA and then a ground out resulted in another and the No. 18 Bulldogs had a commanding 7-0 lead over Georgia Tech.
Georgia Tech got two runners on with no outs in the bottom of the 4th, but three straight strikeouts sent the game to the 5th inning.
After a scoreless 5th inning from both teams, UGA loaded up the bases to start the 6th and scored two more runs to make it 9-0. Georgia Tech was able to only get four hits as opposed to eight from UGA.
