INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — After a first half where absolutely nothing went right for Indiana, coach Tom Allen and the Hoosiers came out swinging to start the third.

IU caught Jeff Brohm's Louisville squad off-guard with a surprise onside kick in order to retain possession and swing momentum while trailing 21-0.

It only took one play for Indiana to move the ball into Louisville territory from there, as a quick pass to Jaylin Lucas went for 21 yards and moved the Hoosiers to the opponents' 33-yard line.

After surviving a fumble scare from running back Josh Henderson, Indiana quarterback Tayven Jackson again found Lucas, this time on a dart over the middle for a 30-yard touchdown.

It was the first passing touchdown of Jackson's collegiate career, both at Tennessee and Indiana, and a desperately needed play for an IU team that got absolutely dominated by the Cardinals in the first half. It was also Lucas's third touchdown of the 2023 season.

Indiana still needs a lot in order to pull off a successful three-score comeback against Louisville. But, the combination of a perfectly placed onside kick to go with Jackson's first ever touchdown pass in a crimson jersey is about as much as the Hoosiers could have asked for to start the second half inside Lucas Oil Stadium.
