Updated look at Kentucky's 2024 recruiting class following addition of forward Billy Richmond

John Calipari's five-man recruiting class is right behind Duke for second-best in the country for now.
In this story:

John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats recently picked up their fifth commitment in the 2024 recruiting class in four-star forward Billy Richmond

Richmond is a 6'5 wing from Camden, New Jersey whose father, also named Billy Richmond, played for coach Calipari at Memphis in 2003 and 2004.

The addition of Richmond gives the Wildcats five committed freshmen for the 2024 class, and they have moved up to No. 2 in 247Sports' class rankings, just behind Duke and their five man class which includes four five-star players.

Kentucky could take over the top spot if they are able to land V.J. Edgecombe, a top five prospect in the class, although Duke remains the favorite for the 6'5 guard's services as well.

Here is a look at the five freshmen joining Calipari's program in 2024, including their ranks at each of the four main recruiting outlets and potential in Lexington:

Jayden Quaintance - 6'10 Center

247: 9

On3: 4

ESPN: 14

Rivals: 11

Quaintance has incredibly long arms and elite athleticism, and he won't even turn 17 until July of 2024. That means he has to stay in college for two years, and Calipari could turn this young man into an absolute matchup nightmare.

Billy Richmond - 6'5 Small Forward

247: 24

On3: 25

ESPN: 34

Rivals: 20

Richmond joins Kentucky after considering Memphis, and the 6'5 wing has plenty of speed and power and could develop into a very versatile defender with more reps.

Boogie Fland - 6'3 Point Guard

247: 33

On3: 18

ESPN: 18

Rivals: 10

Fland is an incredibly skilled shooter who is also young for his age, and if coach Cal can get him to take better shots and use his length, he could be next in a long line of Wildcat greats to succeed at playing point guard in the NBA.

Somto Cyril - 6'10 Center

247: 68

On3: 47

ESPN: 55

Rivals: 44

Cyril is the latest high school prospect to earn the nickname 'Baby Shaq' for his strength on the block and ability to shatter backboards, and his high level defensive instincts and frame make him a potentially elite college (and NBA) defender.

Travis Perry - 6'2 Point Guard

247: 70

On3: 122

ESPN: 83

Rivals: 92

Most pegged Perry as either a future Cincinnati Bearcat or Ole Miss Rebel, but he instead stayed in-state to join the Wildcats. He's not the most physically imposing player, but a strong feel for the game and high motor could make him a valuable player in Lexington for many years to come.
