Tre Mitchell will hold down the fort while the Cats await the return of their seven-footers
The topic Big Blue Nation can't stop talking about is how will the Cats play well without all of the size in the frontcourt.
Ugonna Onyenso and Aaron Bradshaw are both coming back from injury, and the Cats are still awaiting clearance from the NCAA for Zvonimir Ivisic.
Until all of these guys are ready to go, the Cats will rely on West Virginia transfer Tre Mitchell.
Mitchell played well at Global Jam and in the scrimmage against Georgetown College, but this will need to transfer to the start of the season.
At six-foot-nine, Mitchell will be the main player at the five while the Cats await the return of their seven-footers.
Mitchell was 4-5 from deep against Georgetown College, so his ability to space the floor will help this team a lot, but he will need to rebound, or opponents will grab offensive rebounds all game long.
Mitchell's biggest matchup will come against Kansas when he is tasked with guarding Hunter Dickinson.
If Mitchell gets bullied down low, the Cats will not beat the Jayhawks, but if he plays well, Kentucky could get an early signature win.
Mitchell needs to keep this Kentucky team afloat while Cal awaits the return of his big men.
From what we have seen so far, Mitchell has given Big Blue Nation all the confidence in the world that he can do this job and do it well.
