Transfer Portal: Miami Lands DL Anthony Campbell From UL Monroe
Over the last couple of weeks Miami has been adding depth to multiple position groups, with the additions of Tyler Harrell, Jadais Richard, and Ajay Allen.
With Miami's focus being on establishing dominance in the trenches since Mario Cristobal's arrival last off season, the staff was able to land another piece on the defensive line this evening.
Per his Twitter, UL Monroe transfer Anthony Campbell has announced his decision to join the Miami Hurricanes.
Standing at 6-foot-7, Campbell's frame allows for positional versatility across the defensive line for Miami on the edge and interior.
Along with his long arms and frame, Campbell will be able to contribute to a run defense for Miami that allowed 142.1 yards per game.
Last season for UL Monroe, Campbell posted 13 total tackles, a pass deflection, a sack and a forced fumble. Campbell's best game of last season came in a matchup against the Texas Longhorns, where he was credited with a sack, three tackles and a tackle for loss in a 52-10 loss.
With his move to Miami, Campbell will return home to Florida where he played high school football in Lakeland.
With Akheem Mesidor and Leonard Taylor projected as key starters for the defensive line this coming season, Campbell will be able to come into a situation where he can earn snaps from day one.
