Ohio State Buckeyes Fall in College Football Playoff Rankings
The Ohio State Buckeyes have fallen to No. 6 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, which were announced Tuesday evening.
The drop in the Buckeyes' placement comes after the team recorded its first loss of the year in the regular-season finale.
Ohio State's archrival, the Michigan Wolverines, defeated the Scarlet and Gray 30-24 on Saturday in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The contest with the Wolverines has already caused the Buckeyes to receive a lower ranking in the Associated Press (AP) poll, which was announced Sunday afternoon.
Here is how the rest of the rankings played out:
1. Georgia Bulldogs
2. Michigan Wolverines
3. Washington Huskies
4. Florida State Seminoles
5. Oregon Ducks
6. Ohio State Buckeyes
7. Texas Longhorns
8. Alabama Crimson Tide
9. Missouri Tigers
10. Penn State Nittany Lions
11. Ole Miss Rebels
12. Oklahoma Sooners

14. Louisville Cardinals
15. Arizona State Wildcats

19. N.C. State Wolfpack

25. Kansas State Wildcats
Sitting on the outside of the playoff looking in, most Buckeyes fans and media project Ohio State will earn a spot in the Orange Bowl against the Louisville Cardinals. However, there is still one more weekend of games before the CFP is set in stone.
A few different teams must either lose or underperform in their conference championship games this weekend if the Buckeyes are to have any hope of playing in the CFP. Michigan, Florida State, and Washington are the main squads Ohio State fans need to root against for the Scarlet and Gray to have a shot at the national title.
