Michigan Minor League Baseball Team Trolls Ryan Day, Ohio State Buckeyes with T-Shirt

The Kalamazoo Growlers have released a shirt in their team store celebrating an offer they extended to Ohio State Buckeyes coach Ryan Day to be their new third-base coach.

It did not take long for the state of Michigan to commence with their trolling of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Buckeyes lost 30-24 to the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday in the latest installment of one of college football's greatest rivalries.

Bragging from the Wolverines and their fans was expected given the result of the contest, but other teams in the Wolverine State have begun to pile it on as well. One such example is the Kalamazoo Growlers of the Northwoods League, whom released a new item in their merch store taking a shot at Ohio State coach Ryan Day.

The announcement of the shirt's arrival to the merch shop, which can be purchased for anywhere between $25 and $28 (depending on size) came with a press release from Growlers owner Brian Colopy. According to Colopy, the team legitimately offered the position of third-base coach to Day, but it is uncertain if this is anything more than part of the joke.

"The Kalamazoo Growlers have formally extended an offer to Ohio State Football Coach Ryan Day for their 3rd base coaching position," the online release says. "The position would begin in the middle of May, prior to the Growlers 11th season at Homer Stryker Field. The position would involve coaching 3rd base, surveillance and scouting."

Colopy is even quoted in the press release, saying the position was made for someone like Day.

“We think Ryan (Day) was born for the position.” Colopy said. “We will do whatever it takes to get Ryan to Kalamazoo.”
