Ohio State Buckeyes Remain No. 3 in Latest AP Top-25 Rankings

The most-recent placement of the Ohio State Buckeyes on the AP's list continues to disagree with their spot on the College Football Playoff's list.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are still the third-best team in the country, according to the latest rankings from the Associated Press (AP).

The Buckeyes defended their undefeated record over the weekend in their latest game when they defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 35-16 at Shi Stadium.

Ohio State was named the top team in the nation by the College Football Playoff (CFP) on Tuesday after having been no higher than third on any of the previous AP lists up to that point. With this new set of rankings from the AP, the disagreement between the two organizations continues for at least another week.

The placement of Ohio State at the top came as a surprise to many, due to the aforementioned gap between where the AP and CFP each had the Scarlet and Gray going into the evening. Since then, FOX analyst Joel Klatt and other members of the media have publicly defended the Buckeyes, saying the strength of their resume outweighed any shaky performances through the first nine weeks.

Ohio State has already defeated two teams that were ranked in the AP's top-ten at the time: the No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the No. 7 Penn State Nittany Lions. The Buckeyes have one more left on their schedule, traveling to take on the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, November 25 for their regular-season finale.

Ohio State is back in action this Saturday, November 11 on NBC, when they host the Michigan State Spartans at Ohio Stadium. The game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
