Ohio State Buckeyes Fall In Heartbreaking Fashion in Slugfest vs. Michigan Wolverines

For the third straight season, the Ohio State Buckeyes have fallen to the Michigan Wolverines in 'The Game'

The Ohio State Buckeyes entered Saturday's matchup with the Michigan Wolverines with everything on the line.

Win, and they advanced to the Big Ten Championship Game, with a chance at the College Football Playoff. Lose, and they were resigned to their fate, hoping the committee would still see them as a top-four team.

Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, it has become the latter, with Ohio State falling in the Big House to Michigan 30-24, in what will go down as one of the most controversial games in the history of the series.

And surprisingly, it was the defense that ultimately let Ohio State down when it mattered most, with Michigan marching down the field on a final game-deciding drive.

That drive, which lasted 12 plays and 56 yards, and took seven minutes off of the clock, included nine runs - eight of which came from Blake Corum - and ended in a game-sealing field goal, putting the Wolverines up 30-24.

With all of that said, the Buckeyes offense did have a chance at a last-minute drive to win the game, with QB Kyle McCord getting his team into scoring position. However, McCord would ultimately end up throwing an interception on the team's final drive of the game, sealing the Michigan win.

The interception was McCord's sixth of the season and his second of the game.

Following the loss, the Buckeyes will now have to sit and watch the Wolverines as they advance to the Big Ten Championship game, and likely, the College Football Playoff.

And as they do that, they will await their bowl fate, which given their resume, will likely be a New Year's Six berth.
