Third Baseman Ethan Lege ‘Answers Prayers’ in Ole Miss' Friday Night Victory Over Arkansas

Rebels third baseman Ethan Lege shares a special moment after hitting the go-ahead home run in a 7-4 Ole Miss victory.

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels baseball team is not off to a great start in conference play, and while it is disappointing to watch the reigning national champs struggle early on, the victories have become even sweeter.

Ole Miss infielder Ethan Lege found that out during game 2 of the Rebels' home series versus the Arkansas Razorbacks when he hit the go-ahead home run to lift his team to a 7-4 victory on Friday night.

Until Friday night, Lege had not recorded a .250 batting average since the midweek series against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on March 1 but wound up being the MVP of Ole Miss' lone victory against Arkansas this weekend.

Lege sent his second home run of the season into left field in the bottom of the sixth to put Ole Miss up 7-2.

On top of his clutch big fly, the former JUCO transfer was perfect at the plate on Friday night. Lege smacked three hits in three ABs, four RBIs, and also registered a walk against the Razorbacks.

After his big game, Lege got the chance to meet up with family and friends and shared a special moment with his grandmother who says she prayed for his home run to come to fruition.

"Jesus always says to ask for exactly what you want," Lege's grandmother told him. "I said please let Ethan hit a home run, and I swear as soon as I got that out of my mouth I heard the ball hit the bat."

While the Rebels would go on to lose the series finale to Arkansas on Saturday, Lege once again was one of the few bright spots in the Ole Miss lineup, notching three hits in four ABs, and one run.
