Ole Miss Transfer WR Target Keon Coleman Commits to Florida State

The Ole Miss Rebels wide receiver room could've greatly used the services of Michigan State Spartans wide receiver Keon Coleman, but will have to do without.

The Ole Miss Rebels could not close the deal on Michigan State Spartans transfer wide receiver Keon Coleman, he announced on 247Sports' Instagram live Wednesday.

The Opelousas, La., native picked the Florida State Seminoles over the Rebels after taking visits to each of the schools and naming them his top-two options Tuesday. He was the No. 2 remaining transfer option, according to 247Sports.

Coleman had 58 catches, 798 yards, and seven touchdowns, which were eighth, sixth, and sixth, respectively, in the Big Ten last season.

The 6-4, 215-pound wide receiver received three crystal ball projections to go to Florida State Wednesday afternoon from 247Sports' Brandon Marcello, Chris Hummer, and Justin Thind.

He would have been a nice piece to help fill the void of losing the Rebels' top-two receiving options in Jonathan Mingo and Malik Heath, who combined for 111 catches, 1,832 yards, and 10 touchdowns last season.

Coleman would have marked the third transfer wide receiver Ole Miss picked up this offseason, joining Tre Harris from Louisiana Tech and Chris Marshall from Texas A&M. Marshall was dismissed from the football program on May 6 "for violation of team rules."

Harris had 65 catches, 935 yards, and 10 touchdowns with the Bulldogs last year. Jordan Watkins and Dayton Wade, who were the Nos. 3 and 4 receiving options for the Rebels last season, will look to make a jump to primary pass-catching options for whoever wins Ole Miss' starting quarterback job.
